In this episode of Women Empower Active, we speak with Emily Johnson. She is a runner, a climber, a skier and an aspiring mountaineer. She is also a personal trainer who works for a nonprofit. Emily grew up in a very small town in Alaska, where she joined sports just to have something to do and hang out with her friends. When she moved out of Alaska being active became unhealthy and a way for her to deal with problems at home.
It wasn't until college that she had a better support system and her strong faith that she started to see that she can do hard things and believe in herself. Emily unpacks how running even a 50k can be a good way to process emotions and not suppress them, mostly. She also really breaks down mountaineering and why she loves it.
